Community Outreach Community Outreach is how it all began. Anguished people, reeling from the death of B.R. Hogan, wanted change. The Marietta-Cobb Winter Shelter was born; we remain committed to providing emergency shelter to anyone on the coldest nights of the year. While emergency winter shelter remains an important part of our Community Outreach initiatives, that is far from all that we do. A big part of our effort to reach out to the community involves various prevention and education activities. Staff members and even residents make make presentations to children and teens at schools, churches and community centers. We also provide specific drug education and awareness programs to parents, teachers and other concerned adults. Our staff carries the message of prevention to thousands of people each year. In addition to speaking to groups as small as a Sunday School class of 12 to school-wide assemblies, we provide guidance to individual parents who have concerns about their son or daughter. We encourage teachers, school administrators, Sunday School teachers and youth group leaders to address the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. We can help. We can tailor an age-appropriate prevention and education program precisely to your needs. For specific questions about our programs or to schedule a prevention or education program for your group, please contact: John (J.J.) Bremner, CAC II, CCS |
